Darien Congregational Church 225th Anniversary

Notes
- This page identifies several people with last names of West, Chapman, Brown, and Buchs as descendents of John Reed.
-
These people are actually descendents of a person named John Reed (1633-1730).
This person was born in England and migrated to New England in 1660.
His home had been used as a substitute for a meeting house, but he
died 14 years before the chartering in 1744 and so could not
be charter member John Reed.
-
John Reed the immigant had a son, John Reed, Jr., who may have been
still living in 1744, but he would have been around 80 years old by then.
-
John Reed the charter member was probably John Reed III, son of John Reed, Jr.
-
The indicated members of the West, Chapman, Brown, and Buchs families were
descendents of Eunice Reed, daughter of Thomas Reed, son of John Reed the
immigrant, and not John Reed, Jr., nor John Reed III.
-
Eunice Reed married Jonathan Bell who was a charter member (next page),
so the indicated members of the West, Chapman, Brown, and Buchs families are
descendents of a charter member after all, just not the one indicated in
this document.
